Celebrate the 4th of July at Home

Every Fourth of July for the past 29 years, a stunning display of vibrant fireworks have illuminated the night sky over State Fair Park, delighting families from across the Valley. Unfortunately, this year one of the longest-running day-long community celebrations has been officially canceled.
Due to the Governor’s mandatory ban on large crowd gatherings and concerns regarding the current coronavirus outbreak in Yakima County, the Central Washington Fair Association Board of Directors voted to cancel this year’s celebration.

April 23, 2019 - WHEREAS, Greg Stewart of Selah, Washington is retiring after an illustrious and unparalleled 48-year career dedicated to the state of Washington and its fair industry; and
WHEREAS, Greg is an alumnus of Centralia College and Washington4 State University, where he graduated with a degree in agricultural economics; and
WHEREAS, Greg served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1969, including serving a tour of duty in Vietnam; and

CW State Fair President Greg Stewart to Retire

April 16, 2019 - After nearly 48 years at the helm of the Central Washington State Fair, Greg Stewart is getting ready to retire from a job that was only supposed to be a short-term gig.
Stewart, who is the Fair’s president and general manager, announced his retirement yesterday. His plan is to work through the end of 2019, to give the Fair board of directors a chance to hire his replacement.
When Stewart hired on as the assistant general manager of the then five-day Central Washington Fair in 1972, he took the job with the intention of only staying a short time, until he found something on the west side of the state, where he grew up. [...] Read More

Greg Stewart Earns Lifetime Achievement Award

December 21, 2018 - The Lifetime Achievement Award was established in 2014 by the Washington State Fairs Association (WSFA) Board of Directors to recognize an individual's accomplishments and contributions to the Fair Industry. Like so many other industries, WSFA depends on the dedication of staff and volunteers for our success. A key ingredient in that is leadership and commitment.
