April 16, 2019 - After nearly 48 years at the helm of the Central Washington State Fair, Greg Stewart is getting ready to retire from a job that was only supposed to be a short-term gig.
Stewart, who is the Fair’s president and general manager, announced his retirement yesterday. His plan is to work through the end of 2019, to give the Fair board of directors a chance to hire his replacement.
When Stewart hired on as the assistant general manager of the then five-day Central Washington Fair in 1972, he took the job with the intention of only staying a short time, until he found something on the west side of the state, where he grew up.
